Medical errors are the third leading cause of death in the United States. Nurses, healthcare providers, and the scientific community understand that unsafe nurse-to-patient ratios contribute to increased morbidity and mortality for patients. Unsafe staffing also creates unhealthy and unsafe environments for nurses to practice, and contributes to nurse burnout. As a result, our community is working to change the current care environment.

On May 12th, 2016 Show Me Your Stethoscope assisted in organizing a rally in Washington, DC to promote safe staffing ratios for nurses in all health care sectors. Next year, we’re coming back with a bigger, better event: DC 2017.

#SavePat

DC 2017 includes #SavePAT, our awareness campaign; PAT (Patient Accidental Tragedy), our mascot, will be making appearances at events all over the US. These events will take place between July 2016 and May 2017; we will post more information as details become available.
